Mag-aso Steam Cave aslo known as "Oko Cave"
Out in the outskirt of Dauin (Mag-aso and Timbanga) lies this crater or a vent and a cave. The crater or vent is still bursting steam out from the ground, you can smell the sulfur in the air and feel its heat. You can see the opening and look down, despite the surging heat vegetations grow, also, the cave on the side of this slope serves as a vent too. When it is raining or a very hot day you can see the ground steaming. This place is very accessible because it is just beside the road from Timbanga going to Magsaysay.
Locals come to this place especially in the cave. The cave is just narrow, not even long and doesn’t have the natural features of a standard cave; stalagmites and stalactites, but the walls and ceiling have some crystal-like substance or particles maybe due to the sulfur. What makes this cave so alluring and people keep coming in (not all go in, only a handful, mostly they just stay at the mouth) is that it is hot, like a sauna. The cave is like a natural sauna and the only difference is that it has a sulfuric stench. In the mouth of the cave you can really feel its heat but when you are inside of it is manageable. Don’t know if there is a healing effect going inside of it but one thing is for sure that you feel really good after you sweat out all those residues from your body.
People are slowly flocking in here, maybe because they are getting more aware that health is the greatest wealth in this world besides love or for their own personal reasons. Please try out and see for yourselves this wonder that our planet offers, you can find it in Mag-aso, Dauin. ‘Oko cave’ Naturally Negros.
